The 10th annual homecoming event was cancelled due to "coronavirus" closings. Voting for the East Texas Music Awards has surpassed half a million fan votes since 2011, as reported by NBC, FOX, and CBS affiliates in East Texas.

Previous recipients include Don Henley, Kidd Kraddick, Curtis Grimes, Wes Jeans, Kayla Reeves, Kadie Lynn, Ally Venable, Los Guerreros de la Musica, Sarah Hobbs, Exalt, and much more.

We began to promoting regional music in 2010 and opened up voting in 2011. The red carpet event began in 2012, held at K.E. Bushman's Center in Bullard, Texas. The event moved to the Gilmer Civic Center in 2018, and on to The Texan in Athens in 2019. The 2020 event was cancelled due to venue policies related to COVID-19 in Tyler, Texas.
